 The
municipality of Capçanes takes up 22,21 km² and is
located in the southern part of El Priorat bordering with
Tivissa to the south-east, Colldejou to the north-east
and Guiamets and Marça to the north. The village, at 223
metres above sea level, is located in a valley surrounded
by mountains. Many gullies drain the territory and come
together in the Capçanes Torrent.
In that torrent there is a place
known as 'l`avenc de la Fou', a waterspout with a fast
slope of 15 metres that ends up in a lake. It is a
two-hour hiking trip to get to this wonderful spot.
There are many different ways to get to Capçanes:
- The regional road from Falset through Marçà.
- From the national road N-420 there comes a local road
that ends up in Capçanes.
- The train that covers the line Barcelona-Madrid also
stops in Capçanes.
· The town counts with a sports centre, a swimming
pool, a cultural centre and two bars 'Bar Neus' and
'Casal'.
